'Rekon yurupt tu Lesta stweet lingo?' (Do you think you can handle Leicester street language?)

International Society of Typographic Designers, Student Assessment Scheme, 2008, Awarded a Pass

Project brief: 'Doin my nut in'
A collectable souvenir intended for visiting tourists and newcomers, by way of welcoming them to the culturally diverse region of East Midlands, Leicester.

The five featured publication books invite readers to experience and assimilate with the new wave of street language and popular Leicester expressions.

The use of different typographic families specifically for each postcode division and typesetting arrangement aims to visually reflect the expressive tone of street language.

The design grid system varies each time in reference to the language direction, to suit the geographical compass angle. Colour palatte forms the definite link to the 'cultural quarter' divisions of Leicester.

Using the coloured threads, the french folded pages of the books are bound by hand to represent Leicester's long history in textile fashions.
